I was already working for Hughes when they offered a Fortran course. The terminals and printer were in Tucson but the mainframe was in California. Our jobs were run after hours and we had to wait until the next morning for our printout to find the inevitable mistakes.
I was between wives so I started dating a keypunch girl and she punched and verified my cards, while the other guys had to do their own.
