I agree, Eric, it would certainly be nice if the K3 covered 70MHz. As has been suggested one way of doing it would be to use a modified XV50 external transverter. I believe someone has already produced some mods that enable the XV50 to operate on 70MHz. That would run up to 25W on CW and SSB.
