Jeff, I've been on-and-off Linux for years, and I'm convinced the Apple Mac OS-X is the most robust computing solution for no-hassle daily operations. I gave up on Windows, although I have Win-7 running successfully as a Virtual Machine on my Mac Pro.
See http://wilcoxengineering.com/projects/amateur-projects/44-psk31-k2 ... shows how my MacBook Pro runs with my K2. I don't happen to do much with logging programs, but even that small laptop is up to a lot of activity. There's a lot of ham software available for the Mac. If I must run a Windows application, I do it in the Win-7 VM. Best 73, Alan Alan D.
