The spec sheet on the K2 states the voltage range as being from 10V to 15V, so 11.0v would have a nice safety buffer built in. The problem with using Li-ion batteries for SOTA operation is that their voltage and discharge rates are heavily dependant on ambient temperature. The colder they get the quicker the voltage drops and their useful life is dramatically shortened, And with summits.. the higher, the colder!! Visit this page http://www.ibt-power.com/Battery_packs/Li_Ion/Lithium_ion_tech.html and look at the second "Typical Discharge Graph" and you'll see what I mean. The standard discharge curves might also be of interest. -- Dave G KK7SS Richland, WA '59 Morris Minor 1000 '65 Sprite - in process '06 Honda Civic Hybrid ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
