I operated on 6M with my K3/P3 combo several hours this W/E, and didn't experience any birdies or a drifting wide band one. I was also using the PR6 preamp.
Could it possibly be that the installation of the sub-rcvr, KXR3, be causing some K3 instabilities, by its physical proximity over the RF board ? This could happen whether it was off or on. I just received a KXR3 kit, and after I install it, I'll check for those birdies. I have quite a high power line noise level, to my NE, that I think is coming from a pole/xfrmr about 600' away. I used both a IC-756PII and the K3 on 6M yesterday, and the K3's NB, when properly adjusted, was noticeably better than the ICOM's. in reducing this interference. The P3 was also more sensitive for weak signals than the PII's display.
