Hello Dave, I am using the K3 and the P3 with the KPA500. I have the Navigator interface on th aux -y- cable. I was having trouble with the band keys on the amp also. I ordered the aux cable package and I neglected to connect the Interrupter adapter on the Y adapter. :The Key Line Interrupter adapter opens the amplifier key line for stations that require such capability—when automatic antenna tuners, remotely tuned Yagi antennas, or high-SWR protection devices (such as the Elecraft W2) are employed. When plugged into the dual DE-15 cable, KEY OUT control from the K3 is no longer routed through the KPAK3AUX. Instead, a separate cable between the RCA (phono) jack on both units must be used. This key line cable would then be routed via the antenna tuning control or high-SWR protective device, which would interrupt the key line during antenna tuning intervals or when high SWR exists. Don't know if this will help, but its worth a try..
