Yes, the "strange" way the youngster in the video was "addressing" the key leaped out at me, too. I have a nicely-done drawing in a frame on my shack wall that was sold in QST some years ago. It depicts a 1930's station with an HRO, Atwater-Kent and a gas lamp on the wall ... and ... the operator is shown sending code with his right index finger and the key is sideways to his hand!
