Thanks for the announcement. I didn't know when the Novice Class was created. I took mine in summer of 1958 (KN8MWA arrived Nov. 11, 1958), so I will have to wait a few more years for my 60th. My exam was taken before a General Class ham (My ham instructor-mentor) who's full name and call I have forgotten. His first name was Chuck and was a school teacher at a nearby town.
Originally, was supposed to take Oboe lessons from him, but then I discovered he was a ham (and had a evening class for ham radio). I ended up buying his DX-35 to use with my Knight Ocean Hopper (3-tube regen rcvr) on 40m. A couple years later my dad bought a HQ-100 for me. Never learned to play the oboe, but did learn CW. 73, Ed - KL7UW, WD2XSH/45 ====================================== BP40IQ 500 KHz - 10-GHz www.kl7uw.com EME: 50-1.1kw?, 144-1.4kw, 432-100w, 1296-60w, 3400-?
