Hi Pete, Check the RS232 speed settings in the P3. The P3 forces (and leaves) the K3 at 38400 baud. If you have the P3 set to something other than 38400 then your software is likely set to that (say 19200). With the P3 'out of the picture', your software at 19200 is trying to 'talk' to the K3 set at 38400.
Simple fix: set the P3 and your software to 38400. As an independent verification, use the K3 utility with and without the P3 - it will work fine.
