Hello Gene:
So you are saying that AGM technology has caught up with and surpassed Gel Cells. That wouldn't be the first time I was caught not paying attention to technology. The AGM is easier than the Gel Cell to charge too. And it's funny that Elecraft has (apparently) gotten caught equating AGM and Gel Cell technology, HI! The AGM is better in virtually every way, and the AGM has almost completely taken over the SLA market from the older gel cell technology. The Elecraft web site says that the K2 battery is a gel cell, but that is not correct. According to PowerSonic, the PS-1229 is an AGM. A recent data sheet (2011) from PowerSonic notes under Features: Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) technology for superior performance The PS-1229 is what shipped with my K2. Perhaps at one time that model of battery was a gel cell, but no longer. 73, Gene W4SZ K2 1749 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
