My Dad has Phonak hearing aids and has the iCOM TVLink. http://www.phonak.com/com/b2c/en/products/accessories/communication/icom/overview.html
He wears a module around his neck, and the base unit plugs in to the TV audio, or his ham radio. Pipes the audio directly in to the hearing aids via bluetooth. Works very well. The bluetooth devices available on ebay and similar are designed for the most part to support wireless headphones, etc, and don't work with the Phonak, at least the few I tested. There are several bluetooth profiles, and they do different things.
