Working out very nicely for me too! I use Preview (a built in program in OSX) to open the PDF manual, open the updates, drag them to the appropriate part of the manual in the sidebar and I'm golden!
If I feel the need I can also put a sticky note in the PDF in the appropriate parts of the manual. Nice! Now if I can just find the time to work my way though the book!
