Jim,

Don't know if you have solved this problem yet but it was one of the symptoms I
was getting, amongst a lot of others, back a few months ago. Turned out to be
corrosion on the front panel connectors - my shack gets cold and damp in the
winter. I removed the front panel assembly, cleaned the connector contacts with
some switch cleaner fluid, applied some electrical contact lubricant called
'Contralube', re-assembled and all has been well since then. An added advantage
is that the lubricant stuff allows the connectors to mate and un-mate (?) much
more easily and I no longer need a screw-driver/lever, in the slot provided, to
remove the front panel assembly.

Yesterday I got an ERR PL1 when changing to 12m. I did a VCO CAL and it
went away. This evening, I changed to 20m and got ERR PL1 again. I did a
VCO CAL and it did not go away but showed up with an E 000129 ERR VCO.
Since I am on east coast, many Elecrafters will see this before the support
elves come on line Tuesday morning. suggestions?
