Steve,

Normally the default filter settings are useful - they do create a 
"brick-wall" filter that is difficult to achieve with crystal filters.
By default, the NR is not turned on - I would suggest that you learn how 
to easily turn that on/off and also learn how to change the  NR level.  
You could experiment with the NR parameters, but I think the defaults 
are good.
