Udo, Only answering the part of your post listed below - yes, there is no need for a separate interface for the K3 - soundcard line-out to K3 line in and K3 Line out to soundcard Line in.
Actually, many specialized "interfaces" create problems for users because (by default) they provide mic level outputs (which are good for most transceivers) but do not provide enough audio drive for the line-in input level required by the K3 Line in. Line level is 10 to 20 times greater than mic level.
