Roy, If you implement your "pin 5, pin 6" solution, remove the jumper for pin 5 from the microphone configuration header. There is no function in the K2 for the Function line, but it should not have voltage applied to it inside the K2.
Then in each mic connector, wire between pin 5 and pin 1 for any microphone that wants bias.
