So I took my KX3 funds and upgraded my system. (What the heck was he thinking!? ...says Peanut). Took a couple hiking friends up Mt Herman to play radio and compare a couple portable antennas. The K2's A/B selection made it easy to see which antenna was hearing best! Results were they both were about the same but at different times. Conclusion was location, location, location is the best antenna.
