Matt, I only suggested XP compatibility (or running on a real XP machine) to verify one possible reason for the behavior. I did not consider whether obtaining that compatibility would be easy or difficult, only that it *may* be necessary with the existing version of the software.
I have seen other software (the backup program I use for instance), that will not run on Vista nor Win7, so this is not an isolated problem. Microsoft has backed away from "backward compatibility" - if you want all your ham software to run, stick with WinXP (or perhaps even Win2K) even though it has been declared "outdated", as a plus, it performs well on older computers with less horsepower and memory than is required with Vista or Win7. Creating a dual boot computer for the shack applications is not out of the question IMHO. 73, Don W3FPR On 9/4/2011 5:56 PM, Matthew Pitts wrote: > Don, > > While that will work on Vista, it won't necessarily work out of the box on > Win7, as XP compatibility mode doesn't exist in Windows 7 Home Premium; you > have to have Win7 Professional and download the compatibility files from > Microsoft's website. > > Matthew Pitts > N8OHU > Sent from my Wireless Device > > -----Original Message----- > From: Don Wilhelm<[email protected]> > Sender: [email protected] > Date: Sun, 04 Sep 2011 17:50:50 > To:<[email protected]> > Reply-To: [email protected] > Cc:<[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [Elecraft] KRC2 Need help with configuration utility > > Don, > > While I agree that the KRC2 Configuration Utility should be upgraded, > remember that this is a beta version that has only been tested on > Windows XP.
