Jim is correct. I also use only Amphenol PL-259 type connectors, and buy them in 100 or 200 lots. I use the "astro-plate" version, which take solder easily, and is a bit less expensive than the "full silver plate" version. (The center pin is still silver plated). I think the part number ends in, or at least includes, the number 1050. Last time I purchased some, I think I got them from Mouser. Believe it or not, if you haggle (in friendly way) with the sales-lady on the phone sometimes you can get a significantly better price than what is shown in the catalog.
I have NEVER had a failure with an Amphenol connector. I cannot say the same for the import types. This is one instance where you get what you pay for. As you can tell from the quantities that I use, that represents lots of connections. - Jim, KL7CC Jim Brown wrote: > On 10/11/2011 11:46 AM, John Huggins, kx4o wrote: > >> Does anyone know a good source of UHF connectors? >> > > For soldering, Amphenol 83-1SP is the only thing to buy.
