It takes 6 screws and about 2 minutes flat to swap out a KPA100 for the K2
cover with the KB2, KAT2. I have entertained outboarding the KPA100 but is
is so much more convenient to have the KPA100 right on top. Operating it as
a QRP K2 is easy - just power it with the K2 power (not the powerpole on the
KPA100) and you have fine tuning all the way up to 15W. You hear a DX
station and need more power, turn the knob and you are there and does not
need the desk space of the EC2 and without the expense. Want to take it to
the field as a K2/10 - takes just a few minutes to put in the K2 cover. It
does take longer than an outboard KPA100 by about a a minute and a half and
$180+ less money (and yes you need a KIO2 with the K2 cover to connect to
the outboard KPA100). I am happy with this set up until I find $200 burning
a hole in my pocket waiting to be spent.
