Jeff, If you must use Line Out ... Rather than a mod to the K3, May I suggest you build a special cable. At the K3 end connect a stereo plug, but with both conductors connected to the tip - the shield still goes to the shell.
Alternately, connect to the Speaker Output jack instead of Line Out and you can have the AFX effects available.
