Yes, that would work, but then I would also have to take the K3 with me as well. Trying to travel "light".
Several have made the suggestion to place back to back protection diodes on the P3 input, set the P3 to a convenient below 22mhz frequency, tune the rig being tested to that frequency and the P3, being a self contained receiver, will show the waveform. The K3's IF output signal is picked off before the crystal filters, so the P3 shows the actual unfiltered signal received at the K3 antenna connector.
