the newer versions of N1MM do not "work" with the ESC key.
remap one of the unused F keys (say F12), like this
F12 ESC, {CAT1ASC RX;}
this forces the K3 into receive. I used it over the weekend..works great
(until I lost power at 2220z Saturday...still no power...I'm currently
living in a motel)
