I think the manual notch is even more effective. Several times
during SS SSB I sidled up to a BC station on 40, about 2100 Hz
away, and was able to tune out the carrier completely with manual
notch. There was very little effect on the SSB audio passband.
I first tried auto-notch, but it didn't seem to work as well, at
least in this non-dynamic situation.

Subject: [Elecraft] K3 AUTONOTCH works great!

Wow, I was helped tremendously by the K3's auto notch this
weekend during
the SS SSB. When you set up camp and call CQ for any period of
time, you
usually get some LID that hates contesters show up and plant a
carrier on
your CQ frequency but when this happened this weekend, I hit the
auto notch
button and ZAP, it was gone! In fact, it even seemed to clear
the frequency
around me by having the 20 over 9 carrier on me. I could easily
work guys
right through the carrier (which I couldn't hear at all with the
NOTCH on).

Now, if I could only get all the RFI out of my SO2R headphone
circuits, I'd
be a happy camper. I wonder if Wayne or Eric have a button for
that. ;-)
