Hi everyone,
Some people here seem to be losing sight (pun intended) of one of the
reasons for Elecraft offering and people buying the SVGA adaptor, that is so
that those people with poor eyesight can see the P3's display which due to
their eyesight can be rather difficult to see in waterfall mode. (Monochrome
mode will help a little)

I am one of those poorly sighted people and I can tell you that whilst all
my computer monitors here are LCD flat panels with a native resolution of
1440x900 (or significantly better) I operate every single one of them at
1024 x 768 (even on the widescreen monitors), simply because that is the
smallest that I can see unaided with any reliability.
A lot of people are in the same boat I believe.
My eye condition cannot be corrected by laser, spectacles or contacts, I
just have to live with my failing eyesight until I get new corneal grafts
which will give me another 5 to 10 years of sight.
(At least I can go back under the knife a few times to extend my 'sighted'
time which is some small comfort.)
I am looking forward to the availabilty of the SVGA adaptor but please Eric,
keep the 1024 x 768 resolution available. (Dare I ask for 800 x 600 too for
when my eyes have just about 'croaked'?) :-)

The key word is "native". LCDs, being digital, have a native
resolution, where each pixel to be displayed maps directly to a pixel
on the screen. Most monitors will find a way to display some
resolutions lower than their native one, but it may not look pretty
(either "blurry", or maybe not filling the entire screen).
