My K3 with two receivers draws about 2 amps on receive. It drew a bit over 1 amp before I installed the second receiver. For transmit at 10 watts I would ad about 3 amps to that. Two layers of bubble wrap would not be enough for MY K3. I use a hard side fiber-glass brief case with enough padding to keep the K3 from sliding when I carry it in my truck cab. For checked baggage on an airline think pad for throwing 10 feet unless you mark is fragile. In that case, think 20 feet. Make every effort to avoid possible impact which will push the knobs toward the face of the transceiver. I would not like to test how much impact the tuning knobs on the encoders would stand. I'll need just enough oomph to talk to the serial port. What would be the minimum rating for a PS? Any suggestions for a small packable one? Would a couple of layers of bubble wrap be sufficient for packing the rig in checked buggage? 73, Mike NF4L ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
