That's a great mic. I own several that I've used for recording music professionally, and I've even used one briefly in my ham station. But from a cost point of view, it is EXTREME overkill in the ham station, and sounds no better than low cost mics like the CM500. I've used pro mics in my ham station only because I had them and I didn't have another good ham mic. Pro mics need extensive equalization to sound good with ham gear (no low end, a rising high end with lots of boost around 3kHz), and the K3 has that capability built in. As others have noted, virtually any decent mic will work fine with a K3. The only important exception are PRO electret mics (balanced Lo-Z, with XL-connectors) -- there's no simple way to power them from an unbalanced audio input. Pro dynamic mics work fine -- all you need are the connector adapters and that EQ. 73 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
