That's a great mic. I own several that I've used for recording music 
professionally, and I've even used one briefly in my ham station. But 
from a cost point of view, it is EXTREME overkill in the ham station, 
and sounds no better than low cost mics like the CM500. I've used pro 
mics in my ham station only because I had them and I didn't have another 
good ham mic.

Pro mics need extensive equalization to sound good with ham gear (no low 
end, a rising high end with lots of boost around 3kHz), and the K3 has 
that capability built in. As others have noted, virtually any decent mic 
will work fine with a K3. The only important exception are PRO electret 
mics (balanced Lo-Z, with XL-connectors) -- there's no simple way to 
power them from an unbalanced audio input. Pro dynamic mics work fine -- 
all you need are the connector adapters and that EQ.
