My experience in building the K2 was definitely to follow the order of the
instruction
manual to the letter.  I was also concerned about the placement of the
thermistor
board and adjacent components.  However, when I was done installing U6 and
C87,
there turned out to be more than enough room.   Have a look at the postings
on
the blog I maintained during construction ...  you might find the text, and
especially
