I have been using my Microkeyer so far on DATA & contests with the K2 audio
output fed from the front panel headphone jack (with an adaptor to take the
headphones as well).

But I really would prefer to take a fixed audio output from the K2
elsewhere, back to the Microkeyer.

Microham in the wiring diagram supplied with their Microkeyer advocate just
taking a shielded double line from J5 in the K2 (? back of product
detector?) to a new stereo jack mounted on the K2 rear chassis.

I believe however that Don (W3FPR) & Tom Hammond developed a mod which
included an audio amplifier IC for the same purpose & mounted it initially
on the K2 side panel & later, or the Control Board. This is obviously more
complicated & I wonder if anyone has tried the much simpler MicroHAM
solution? What are the advantages of the audio amp mod?
