On behalf of the entire HK0NA team I would like to take this opportunity to thank Elecraft for being a primary sponsor for the HK0NA 2012 DXpedition. Without their assistance an operation of the scale that we have planned would not be possible. Our goals for this trip are aggressive. To reach these goals we needed to set up two operating locations. OP A at the top of one of the highest peaks on the island and OP B at the location of the Military Facility. OP B is located about 300 ft ASL and OP A is almost 900 ft ASL.
We plan to be on the air with 10 stations. These stations, at the two camps, will be operating in close proximity. The K3 and KPA500 are the perfect combination for DXpeditions. The light weight makes it possible to establish a 4 station camp at OP A, and the combined receiver and transmitter performance enables us to operate multiple stations in relatively close proximity. The main team is meeting in Bogota this evening to begin the trip to Malpelo. We plan to arrive at the island at dawn on January 21.
