For reasons I'd rather not get into, I found myself needing to get on
PACTOR I. I ordered and received a used KAM+ and have gotten it
successfully hooked up and receiving on RTTY and HF Packet. Problem is,
when I try and connect to a PACTOR BBS or even test on RTTY, I don't get
any output power and hear no tones as I do in the soundcard modes. It
has been a long time since I used a modem for PACTOR, and I know at that
time, you would not hear the tones and maybe that's still the case with
the K3.
When trying to transmit, the radio goes into transmit, but I have no
output. I did try changing the data mode to FSK, but the tone I got out
did not sound like what I remember PACTOR sounding like. It sounded
nothing like RTTY when in RTTY mode either.
Here's what I have connected:
KAM+ K3
Pin 1 = TxD Line Out
Pin 2 = GND PTT GND
Pin 3 = PTT PTT
Pin 6 = RxA Line In
Has anyone gotten an older KAM+ working properly with their K3? Should
I not be going through the connections on the rear of the K3? In the
past, I would go through the mic connector for PACTOR, RTTY, etc. It
could be that I don't have the correct connections for the KAM+. It was
a cable I used previously with either an FT-847 or FT-857.
