Not necessarily from your Mac Dan, it's not easy to infect OSX, but might have 
accessed a sight where you've ben an originator of a mail and there is a list 
of emails they can send too - nabble for instance.

There are various anti-virus/anti-spam tools available, from ClamXav for free 
to MacKeeper and of course Semantic etc.
