There is an interesting article on designing a QRSS grabber.  An mbed 
board is attached to one of Tony's (KB9YIG) SoftRock boards.  He uses 
the 1 pulse per second signal from a GPS board to stabilize the 
SoftRock's receive frequency.  Looks like a kluge now but the author 
promises a cleaner design with more firmware and software in the 
future.  Look at the latest issue of Circuit Cellar for the details: 
February 2012 #259 page 14.  The issue is dedicated to wireless comms 
and so far I have read three articles authored by radio amateurs.
