*I have used a Koss SB49 - repeat SB49 - headset with my K3 for several years with good performance. It does indeed have a electret element as does the CM500. (I wonder if all these headsets use the same source for their mic element.) I can't give a comparison between the Koss and the Yamaha because I have never tried the CM500. But I have been pleased with the Koss. The Koss sells for about 30 bux on Amazon. Caveat Emptor!
