Hi, Yes, it *has* to be solid state. It would be complete insanity for Elecraft engineering to invest in tube technology which is completely obsolete for the power levels we are talking about here. Where Elecraft ought to take the lead is getting the distortion levels for the whole chain to at leat below 40dB. I'll be a customer in a flash if that happens.
