I changed the subject line to fit my comments, better: I have not seen the N2QY mods (not seen a link), so do not know what it does, but it seems one merely needs the IF brought out for the KRX3 (aux receiver) and that is easy, if you know how to use a soldering iron.
I did this to connect my K3 to a LP-Pan: http://www.kl7uw.com/LINRAD.htm scroll down to the topic: "Connecting K3 Sub-Receiver IF to LP-Pan". You need a BNC jack, about 12-inches of RG-174 and a .001 uF disc ceramic cap (25v). Adding a couple ferrite beads is suggested for shielding. 30-min to an hour to accomplish. Its that easy. 73, ED - KL7UW ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Tue, 21 Feb 2012 11:22:11 -0700 From: David Gilbert <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Fw: K3 and CW Skimmer To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Hi, Bill. Yeah, I understand all that, but it just seems that having a second receiver in the K3 but not being able to monitor it with the P3 sounds like more of an oversight than simply the avoidance of a niche market. After all, the N2QT modification is almost negligible in terms of cost, and the software mod to CW Skimmer is so simple that even I was able to figure it out before I ever saw the N2QT mod ... and I'm almost illiterate software-wise. I'd bet that most people with a KRX3 and a P3 wish they were capable of working together. 73, Dave AB7E 73, Ed - KL7UW, WD2XSH/45 ====================================== BP40IQ 500 KHz - 10-GHz www.kl7uw.com EME: 50-1.1kw?, 144-1.4kw, 432-QRT, 1296-?, 3400-?
