I have an FT-857D with the remote mic, the stock mic is sitting around doing nothing. So I thought of an idea. Why not make an RJ-45 to 4 circuit TRRS adapter and use the stock mic with the KX3?
When I installed my FT-857D in my truck I used a panel mount female-female RJ45 I grabbed off some piece of scrap equipment a buddy had and it works real well. I was thinking of just using the stock female-female RJ-45 that came with my FT-857D/remote kit for my KX3 project, but I don't like that idea too much. For a mobile its fine but I'm looking for something more compact for the KX3. Are there any cable mounted female RJ-45 connectors that anyone knows of? Mousers selection pretty much has panel mounted ones or cable mounted ones that have some sort of fancy waterproof/locking mechanism on them. I just need a basic RJ-45, but the reverse gender. Does such a thing exist?
