To put in slightly different terms: The KX3 is a direct conversion radio and has no IF (intermediate frequency). e.g. If you tune 14.305 USB, that signal mixes with the VFO=14.305 MHz. The result is audio.
But this is a SDR so more accurately the output is (approx) 3KHz baseband audio in two streams phase shifted 90 degrees apart (the "I and Q signals" which go to a A/D and are digitally demodulated by the internal DSP processor). This same IQ baseband is available for export to a stereo soundcard for those wanting to run soundcard programs (like psk-31, SSTV, or WSPR, etc.) on a computer. ergo no IF. I suppose you were wanting to connect to a P3? I believe the Elecraft folks have something planned to accomplish that with a KX3 (your turn to comment, Wayne or Eric). 73, Ed - KL7UW, WD2XSH/45 ====================================== BP40IQ 500 KHz - 10-GHz www.kl7uw.com EME: 50-1.1kw?, 144-1.4kw, 432-QRT, 1296-?, 3400-?
