I didn't notice if you said that you're running Windows or something else. I'll assume you're on Windows.
I had trouble using fldigi/rigcat with the K2, but the associated flrig program works fine (also downloadable from the w1hkj site, the same place you get fldigi). flrig and fldigi work together so that it's like you're using rigcat with fldigi, except that flrig provides more capability such as controlling power, controlling split frequency operations, etc. There is a Yahoo Group for fldigi called win-fldigi that you should join to ask questions relating to fldigi.
