I was on my deck today with the KX1 and the bands were really bad here. I was trying a Par 40/20 end fed antenna on top of a new Jackite 28-foot windsock pole. I called CQ near 7040 anyway and a VE3 came back to me. No big deal, but he was on SSB! We had a nice QSO for about 20 minutes. I heard him work a few more stations "cross mode". So if you call CQ on 40, open up your bandwidth and you might be answered by VE3AAG (Norm near Ottawa) on SSB.

BTW - the Jackite pole is nice, and sturdier than the World Radio SD-20 pole that I had been using.
