That's not the point. There are those who enjoy ham radio for what they learn from it, and from optimizing their stations. There are others who simply enjoy operating and don't really care much what is behind it. Either are perfectly valid (this is a hobby, after all), but you're the one who seems to think that the latter has some level of esteem that the former does not. It doesn't. Some people like to build high performance cars but never drive them ... others couldn't care less what's under the hood and just want to race. Nobody is telling you to put your mic down and rigorously analyze your antennas ... don't tell the rest of us to quit trying to learn from each other on this forum so we can spend more time telling somebody what our weather is like.
