Put up what you can it may surprize you. I put up a 160m OCF fed with coax to a 4:1 balun. Nothing fancy just what I could do. That was 4 yr.s ago. I chase DX and with 500w I've wrkd 125 on CW & 2 or 3 on SSB. You need to try SOMETHING if you want to get on the air. Worst case is it will not work. Then you go from there.
