If you have several pieces of equipment, you'll never be able to have it neat. I found that by having my L-Shaped desk 2' out from the wall you'll be able keep some sort of order (whatever that is). I also have a copper buss bar on the back of the desk for grounding.
I usually fasten cables that are going in similar directions together with little Velcro ties. Of course one must use your head and not fasten them to the coax cables. Even the coax cables I'll tie together. I have numerous holes in the buss bar so I can strategically hang some of the cables from that. All my outlets are on the wall behind with multiple sockets and circuits. I'll tie them together too. All this does make it easier to walk behind the equipment without getting my legs and feet tangled up in it, most the time.
