Hi Roger, I doubt this has anything to do with the firmware version. My first guess would be a problem with the RS-232 connection between the K3 and P3, but the fact that the center frequency readout is correct implies that the RS-232 must be working. It could still be intermittent I suppose.
I would make sure that both RS-232 connections are tight and then cycle power on both the K3 and P3 and see if that doesn't fix it.
