Eric, Once the proper values are written into the EEPROM by the CAL PLL and CAL FIL processes, they should remain stable unless the PLL reference oscillator frequency changes substantially (similarly the BFO Frequency).
The most important thing to assure accuracy is to carefully set the K2 reference oscillator shortly before doing CAL PLL and CAL FIL. Once these proceses run, the reference oscillator can drift all it wants to and will not affect the K2 calibration (because it is not used in normal operation for calibration purposes). If you want to do a really 'super' job of setting the K2 reference oscillator, take a look at my website http://w3fpr.qrpradio.com or the mirror at http://home.earthlink.net/~w3fpr or the mirror at www.qsl.net/w3fpr - the K2 Dial Calibration article should give you several methods of setting the reference accurately, and step 3 (CAL FIL) provides good information and links to additional information about setting the filters. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > This is not an question about my rig, it's more like a wondering... > > I have made two automatic calibrations on my K2.
