Thanks for the replies. Nothing truly 'fatal' about the error message I got; after I corrected the source of the problem (I failed to tighten the DB9 retainer screws and bumped the wires) it was quite simple to cycle the power and hold certain buttons down to effect a reset.
I did lose my settings, however. Unlike the K3, which has a config file, the P3 currently does not appear to. No worries, it only takes about 4 minutes to re-set the function buttons and so forth.
