Yes, Don, Windows automatic updates can be a problem, but I have all of the computers at home set to check for updates at 3 AM daily. That way they won't interrupt anything that we may be doing.
I've learned quite a bit about the PIC processors from Wayne and others, and I thank everyone for the information.
