A few years back I bought a couple of KB9YIG's little SDR receiver kits (one still in use as a panadapter for my K3..). Tony was charging $15 each including shipping, and at a UK equivalent of ~£8.50 there was no VAT charged on arrival either.
Then W&S began selling them but at a price around £30 (forget exact amount). When challenged the response was convenience plus you got a cd of software which was available anyway via download.
