It appears that the KX3's voice transmit audio equalization (MENU:TX EQ) can interfere with ALC metering under some conditions. It can also impact the sound of the transmit monitor. We're working on it.
The temporary work-around is to set TX EQ to "flat". To do this, locate the TX EQ menu entry, then hold CLR (this is the hold function of the OFS/B knob). Then exit the menu.
