Stan, If the voltages are ALWAYS exactly the same, you could be OK, but if the voltage sags on either supply, the one with the higher voltage will try to feed into the lower voltage supply just as if it were another load. What happens next depends on the exact power supply design. I would surmise that for one thing, connecting two supplies in parallel will possible defeat the foldback current limiting.
It would be much better and safer IMHO to use 2 distribution boxes - unless you have one piece of gear that requires more current than the Astron can handle by itself. If I were going to attempt to parallel 2 supplies, I would check that the design (mainly the protection circuits) allows them to work together properly and definitely would NOT attempt to parallel 2 different supplies. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Stan Rife > Sent: Thursday, August 18, 2005 6:57 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: RE: [Elecraft] Power Supply (WAS: New amp) > > > That's what I have done here.
